Meeting Point:  Bridge at the River Gyle/The Big River, Brewery Road, Tralee (near CBS Primary School)

Date: 28/09/2024

Time:  2.30 – 5pm

Transition Kerry and Tralee Bay Wetlands are hosting a series of free community events in September and October, with the support of LAWPRO and Kerry County Council.  We are celebrating the rivers of Tralee, including the Big River/The Gyle, the Balloonagh River and of course the lovely River Lee after which the town has been named.

On Saturday 28th September, this community event will focus on who lives along our rivers in Tralee town, including humans, otters, bats, fish, birds, insects and plants.  We will be introduced on how to assess water quality, how to deal with and prevent littering in our rivers and how local people and communities can take on a section to care for.  We will also learn about the importance of the rivers of Tralee as part of our urban nature and ecological corridors.

We are delighted that the Irish Wildlife Trust – Kerry Branch and The Otter Spotter Project from Cork Nature Networkwill be joining us on the day, along with local ecologists and local nature lovers who will share their knowledge and experience with us.  PLEASE REGISTER HERE ON THE TRALEE BAY WETLANDS WEBSITE.

This is an outdoor event, so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for our changeable September weather!

This event is the 2nd in a series of 3 taking place this Autumn as part of our ‘Telling the stories of the Rivers of Tralee – Ag Insint Scéalta Abhainneacha Thrálí’.   This event is supported by LAWPRO and Kerry County Council.  This event is free of charge.  Events can be booked through the Tralee Bay Wetlands Website.  Contact Tralee Bay Wetlands to for further information or book a place (066-7126700).  Everyone is welcome.  Tá fáilte roimh gach duine.
