From the 5th to the 12th October 2024, there are numerous events taking part for Kerry Mental Health & Wellbeing Festival 2024.

Transition Kerry are being supported by NEWKD to host a number of events as part of the week and these are listed below.

All of the events listed below are free of charge – places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Some events are outdoors, so please wear suitable footwear and dress appropriately for the changeable October weather!

6th October/6ú Deireadh Fómhar: Food & Wellbeing for Us & The Earth

Date & time:  06 Oct @ 11:00 – 11:30

Venue:  Moyderwell Allotments, , Tralee, V92CRW8

Organiser:  Transition Kerry

Facilitator:  Shirley Copeland, Mind Body Eating Coach

A workshop on how food and eating habits can affect our mental health and wellbeing in both positive and negative ways with Shirley Copeland. Together, we’ll: experience a guided Mindful Eating practice using a variety of foods and; create a plan to eat well and get back on track when necessary. This will be followed by Q&A.

7th October/7ú Deireadh Fómhar:  Head, Heart and Hands (Thinking, Feeling, Doing)

Facilitator:  Niamh Ni Dhúill( Nature, Biodiversity & Ecological Gardening Educator) and Mary Kiernan, Facilitator and Coach (Weaving Webs Of Connection)

Join us in co-creating the development and cultivation of capacities to sustain and nurture us in the face of multiple challenges in these VUCA (Volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) times. This workshop will be interactive and take place indoors and outdoors so please dress for the weather.

9th October/9ú Deireadh Fómhar:  Wild Food as a Gateway to Connection and Positive Mental Health

During this workshop you will learn about specific plants and their beneficial uses for our health. There will also be a lively exploration of how wild food foraging can have a positive impact on wellbeing. Please dress appropriately as this will be an outdoor event weather permitting.

In a fun and thought-provoking workshop, learn about how we can move into more just and equitable systems that are good for our communities and nature, and enables us all to thrive and flourish. This workshop will take place indoors and outdoors weather permitting.

11th October/11ú Deireadh Fómhar:  Creative Writing and Nature Journaling workshop

Venue:  Rahoonane Community Centre, Tralee, V92D9HF

Facilitator:  Susan Browne, Transition Kerry, From the Ground Up, Ballyduff Tidy Towns, is a mental health nurse, wellness coach and writer.

Creative Writing and Nature Journaling in Rahoonane Community Center and Allotments. Enjoy a fun morning where we’ll explore what connects us to soil, nature, growing food and wellness. Experience some creative writing/nature journaling with writer, wellness coach and biodiversity enthusiast, Susan Browne. This is an uplifting session with positive mental health at its centre. All levels of writing experience/no experience welcome. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear as this event runs both indoors and outdoors. Book early to avoid disappointment!
