Networks & Collaboration

Networking & Collaboration have been embedded in Transition Kerry’s principles and practices of working from the outset in 2007.

The scale of the issues and tasks in a rapidly changing ecosystem has encouraged us to seek inspiration, expertise, skills, knowledge and good practice (head, heart and hands) as we evolve our responses to the critical issues facing individuals and communities.
We liken these networks to the wood wide web and mycorrhizal networks that support all life.

“ Collaboration is a journey of sharing thoughts and ideas, of walking with each other, sharing dreams and planning together. It is the process of learning each other’s systems of thinking and acting. It is the learning when and what to contribute for the good of the whole. It is becoming okay with letting go of our “lust” for perfection as we perceive it. And, yes, it is challenging, time-consuming, even frustrating, but it is also trusting that our tie together is well spent and that our effects will produce new life”

Weaving Webs of Connection

Meitheals have been a key feature of many our programmes, including orchard plantings, pond creation, tree and hedge plantings, compost making, hosting festivals and seasonal gatherings. World cafes, open space style conversations, workshops and flat structures are ways in which we co-create and collaborate.

During almost 2 decades we have fostered and witnessed the emergence of a strong From the Ground Up Network.

This has given rise to other networks and communities of practise and systems of influence, which includes contributions to policies, the formation of and involvement in other national and international networks such as Talamh Beo, IDEN (Doughnut Economics), The All Ireland Pollinator Plan and
The National Biodiversity Data Centre.
